Welcome to the IPMA-HR Southern Region website!

IPMA-HR is the premier professional organization for public sector human resources professionals. Itís a place where you can collaborate with and learn from your peers. The Southern Region has clarified this in our vision statement:

To champion human resources values, leadership, and professional development with Southern hospitality and charm.

To help us fulfill this mission, we sponsor an annual conference. Itís a major event attended by over 250 of your colleagues looking for networking, training, and career development. I attended my first Southern Region conference eight years ago and I was hooked! As a public sector human resources professional, it was the first conference I attended that completely applied to my job and my workplace. At that first conference I met and networked with a group of HR professionals who today are still my colleagues and mentors. People who are just a phone call away when I need a sounding board or advice.

This yearís conference will be held from May 20-23, 2018 in beautiful Birmingham, Alabama and is cohosted by the Alabama Chapter of IPMA-HR (AAPPA-HR). This yearís theme is HR: Forging Our Future in the Magic City and weíd love to see you there. The conference program is full of speakers and topics that will challenge you to grow in your career and return to your job motivated and energized! If youíre new to the conference, I encourage you to and your special group of advisors at one of the many networking opportunities: the Presidentís Reception, the Oklahoma Chapterís night at Cantina Laredo, and the Tuesday evening event at historic Sloss Furnaces. If youíve previously attended a Southern Region conference, youíll enjoy reconnecting with old friends and making new connections.

Iíd also like to encourage you to get involved in the Southern Region and your local IPMA-HR Chapter. You can serve on a committee, help plan a conference, or take on a leadership role. Itís a great way to make contacts and grow as a professional.

See you in Alabama!
